Observations from Monday’s Jets follow:
Something good
Omar Cooper Jr. threw the ball a mile into the air in celebration after catching an 18-yard landing go to punctuate a practice-ending two-minute drill. Geno Smith, who was 5-of-5 on the drive, regarded off the protection and came to the rookie in excellent timing. A pleasant carry for Cooper as he battles Isaiah Williams to be WR3.

Something unhealthy
Cade York made 3-of-5 discipline objectives and Jason Sanders made 2-of-5 from 33, 38, 43, 48 and 53 yards out. Both kickers missed from 38 and 43 – digital gimmes in at present’s NFL – as the competitors seems to be shedding steam from a quick begin. Is the Week 1 kicker on another roster proper now?
Caught my eye
The unmistakable sound of pads crunching and hollers of “Stay off the ground” came as the Jets practiced goal-line conditions at the 2-yard line. There were a couple large hits but no onerous emotions emerged, surprisingly. Andrew Beck caught a landing go from Geno Smith, while Kene Nwagwu and Chip Trayanum scored on runs.
Injury report
CBs Nahshon Wright, CB Qwan’tez Stiggers, LB Kiko Mauigoa were restricted. EDGE Joseph Ossai, EDGE Kingsley Enagbare and DT T’Vondre Sweat were full individuals. It was Stiggers’ first day out of a purple non-contact jersey since he collapsed with a concussion.
