Mikie Sherril’s still ducking on New Jersey’s noncitizen-voter scandal

Published on

New Jersey just lastly deleted the names of about 5,000 noncitizens whom the state put on the voter rolls even though they checked the “not a citizen” field while making use of for a driver’s license or state ID — but it’s still ducking the bigger situation.

Gov. Mikie Sherrill blames a “software error,” though the firm that provided the primary software program says it warned the state of the situation, but the Democrats who run Jersey apparently just shrugged.

Nor has she addressed the situation that merely skipping the field on the Motor Vehicle Commission type where it asks you to say so if you’re not a citizen has seemingly led to 1000’s more unlawful voter registrations, before and after that “error” lastly got addressed.

Remember, she announced the “error” only after the feds declared they had ID’d over 35,000 noncitizen registered voters in the Garden State.

That’s not a rounding error. Those are numbers that make a distinction in shut elections.

Like California and other blue states, New Jersey sweeps as many potential voters onto the rolls as potential; any unlawful voters put on the rolls then face a “Don’t ask, don’t tell” rule: New Jersey won’t test and you won’t have to point out it.

And now Sherrill is stonewalling the feds as they strive to determine out how deep the rot goes.

The 1993 “Motor Voter” legislation permitting for computerized voter registration also required states to take proactive steps to hold their rolls clear by periodically purging noncitizens, the deceased and these who’ve moved away.

Deep-blue states favor to depart the rolls a mess; Democrats have so much else they’re rather spend cash on.

Democracy can’t work if folks think everything’s rigged; Mikie Sherrill wants to restore Garden Staters’ confidence that their elections are clear.
