There’s nearly no political danger for a profession Democrat working in a state where Democrats outnumber Republicans by a 2-to-1 margin.
You’d think that would assist a candidate really feel more relaxed, and more comfy sharing concepts.

It’s what voters need, and deserve — so why not do it?
Becerra says he discovered the arduous manner from a mistake early in his profession.
He campaigned against the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), then modified his thoughts once he was in workplace, and voted for it.
When NAFTA turned unpopular, he regretted his choice.
So?
Lots of folks underestimated the job losses that NAFTA would cause. Many folks — including many Democrats — thought that commerce would profit the financial system general, even if some industries moved manufacturing offshore.

Some would still make that argument. In reality, that’s why Trump signed — and Congress authorised — the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) in 2019.
Being in public workplace means making robust selections. It means taking the danger of being flawed.
It also means studying how to repair your errors, when they occur.

The only folks who never get anything flawed are folks who never do anything vital.
Becerra has spent his profession in other folks’s shadow. He was a minor participant in Congress. He was a fill-in as California legal professional basic. He was invisible as secretary of well being and human providers under President Joe Biden.
And he was an afterthought in the governor’s race, until Eric Swalwell crashed out and Democrats wanted a new front-runner.

Becerra was their man — largely because he hadn’t carried out enough to offend anybody.
So — not a dangerous technique for getting promoted.
But it’s a horrible manner to govern. You can’t run from robust selections.
You have to have the braveness to fail — and to change your thoughts.
Also — as a candidate, you owe it to the voters to give them a clear sense of where you stand. It’s the only manner they can maintain you accountable, if and when you win.
Becerra wants to resolve if he is working to govern, or just to be an empty swimsuit.
The established order in California isn’t chopping it. The Golden State wants management.
