Apple reducing a whole bunch more jobs in shift toward AI

Apple is reducing more than 200 jobs as the tech big sharpens its focus on AI and updates its Siri digital assistant.

Roughly 100 of the eradicated positions are tied to the Vision Pro crew, while another 100 hit teams working on Siri and Intelligent Systems Experience, the division targeted on bringing AI into Apple gadgets, Bloomberg reported.

Apple confirmed the cuts, saying it was “looking to evolve our business to deliver the best experiences for our users.”

“While we will create new roles as part of this change, it will also impact a limited number of existing roles,” the firm said.

Siri has lagged behind OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google Gemini for years, significantly when it comes to remembering what customers were speaking about and dealing with follow-up questions naturally.

Siri has traditionally responded with a primary internet hyperlink instead of really answering the query.

The firm’s revamped “Siri AI” in the public beta of iOS 18 has narrowed the useful hole by focusing on integration across its ecosystem.

Vision Pro has become one of Apple’s greatest industrial disappointments.
