A humanoid robotic has outperformed people by working sooner than Usain Bolt’s 100m dash world file at the World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing.
Tianzhuo, the robotic developed by China’s Beijing Innovation Centre of Humanoid Robotics, ran the distance in 9.39 seconds at the occasion.
Eight-time Olympic gold medallist Bolt set the world file for people in 2009, working 100m in 9.58 seconds.
The robotic beat two others including one made by Chinese smartphone maker Honor – which the producer says ran the distance in 9.32 seconds in a check run.
Other occasions at the robotic video games, which began on Saturday, embrace boxing and soccer, but also family duties such as folding laundry.
The BBC’s China correspondent Laura Bicker reports from Beijing.
