There are penalties for dropping to the Titans.
The Colts fired longtime GM Chris Ballard on Monday morning, hours after the group was shocked by the winless Titans in a 26-20 defeat.
Ballard has been the Colts GM since 2017 but the group has been mired in mediocrity since franchise quarterback Andrew Luck shockingly retired before the 2019 season.
Indianapolis is off to a 2-4 begin this season.

“I am grateful to Chris for his years of service to the Colts and for everything he poured into this organization. He cared deeply about our team and our community, and we wish Chris and his family all the best,” proprietor Carlie Irsay-Gordon said in a assertion.
“As I said at the begin of the season, the sense of urgency has never been increased. Our commonplace is to compete for championships, and I believe a change in management is mandatory to meet that commonplace. Making this change during the season was a deliberate determination. Waiting would only delay the necessary work that wants to start now. We will conduct a thorough search for our next basic supervisor and take the time mandatory to establish the proper chief for the future of this group.
“I also want to be clear: this decision does not change our goals for the season. We have a lot of football in front of us, and I expect us to compete, improve, and win football games.”
