Russian double-tap drone strike kills 15 in Ukrainian mall, officers say

At least 15 individuals have been killed in a Russian double-tap drone strike on a purchasing centre in the central Ukrainian metropolis of Kryvyi Rih, native officers have said.

Another 130 individuals – including 23 kids – were injured in the metropolis’s largest mall. More individuals are also reported to be trapped in the rubble.

President Volodymyr Zelensky said the “absolutely cynical and despicable” daytime attack in his residence city was carried out in “two waves”, with the second strike concentrating on emergency staff at the scene.

Dramatic footage verified by the BBC reveals the second drone hitting the already burning purchasing centre in the Dnipropetrovsk area. Russia’s navy has not commented.

Dnipropetrovsk regional head Oleksandr Hanzha said on Friday night that there were now 15 confirmed fatalities, including two individuals who died later in hospital.

He said that 130 individuals were injured, including 29 who were in a critical situation. There are fears the loss of life toll would rise further.

Rescuers groups from 4 other Ukrainian areas are being urgently deployed to assist search for survivors.

Earlier in the day, Kryvyi Rih Mayor Oleksandr Vilkul said the Russian drones were flying at “extremely low altitudes”, describing the attackers as “animals”.

“There are missing people who are not responding to calls,” the mayor added.

This comes a day after 17 individuals were killed and more than 40 injured in a main Russian missile and drone attack on Ukraine’s capital Kyiv.

Blocks of flats and warehouses were struck in a single day across the metropolis, native officers said. A kids’s hospital and faculty were also broken.

Earlier on Friday, Ukraine’s navy said it carried out strikes on an oil refinery and a navy airfield deep inside Russia.

Ukraine has in current months intensified attacks on Russian vitality services, as properly as on warehouses of the nation’s largest on-line retailer Wildberries.

Kyiv describes them as respectable targets because they assist finance Russia’s warfare.
